Telling the Truth: an introduction

Representation and text:  David Hicks? Global warming and nuclear power? The Qantas bid?

In this elective you examine representations of the truth. How an issue is represented has a significant impact on whether it is accepted or rejected. Involved in this are the credentials of of the person who is representing the issue in question and their skills in representing the issue.

You will examine how a responder can be persuaded by the representation of a truth (personal or public) to accept that truth. You will come to understand how such representations can be examined and evaluated for their validity.
