Factual Text Types

The Explanation

The explanation both explains and describes an event or situation or behaviour. It is more commonly used in scientific or technical areas.

You will have been asked to explain why you say or believe or feel something in English in relation to texts, ideas, and characters.

Identifying statement	general and abstract nouns action verbs simple present tense passive voice conjunctions of time and cause noun groups abstract nouns adverbial phrases complex sentences technical language	An identifying statement tells the responder what it is that will be explained. It is a statement of the phenomenon.
Explanation sequence		The explanation sequence is a series of events related according to time or cause or both to the phenomenon
Conclusion		This is a summary or concluding statement.
